I done good Ma!!!! Look at Me!!!! Finished YAE!!!!!

What were your favorite discoveries or exercises on this learning journey?

I found some some very cool tools and resourses out in electronic land that I never knew existed. This is probably going to sound very lame but some of my favorite discovers were Library Thing and You Tube. I just found them great resourse of information, fun and enjoyment.

How has this program assisted or affected your lifelong learning goals?

I definitly more internet tools sauve. I can be a better librarian by knowing what's out there in helping and enabling my patrons.

Were there any take-a-aways or unexpected outcomes from this program that surprised you?

I definitly learned a great deal of stuff which I had no idea would be so cool and user friendly. That really was my biggest surprise; not at all what I expected.

What could we do differently to improve upon this program’s format or concept? And last but not least…

I have to say somethings could be improved upon, even though I throughly enjoyed the program and learned so much. One thing is that the concept of getting help from your peers sounds good on paper, but with all we have to do in our jobs asking someone's time for help when you are struggling to get your stuff done did not work out that well. Perhaps with the online leassons offer some special times when people can get one on one assistance or even group help. Just some thoughts; but I do want to stress that I loved the program. More time to complete would have been nice also.

If we offered another discovery program like this in the future, would you again chose to participate?

Yes.

NetLibrary Rocks!!!!!

I love the NetLibrary online resource. I could totally see downloading some of the great books I listened to while browsing for an mp3 player. Some of the books I listened to were:
Against All Enemies: Inside America's War On Terror Unabridged.
by Clarke, Richard A.;

Apt Pupil: From Different Seasons Fiction On Cassette
by King, Stephen;

Cell Unabridged.
by King, Stephen

I guess I like Stephen King eh? Wonderful service for the library to provide indeed!!!!!!

King Arthur and Bloody Peep Jousting 004

Oh the sensless violence. Two dead Peeps after the Jousting event!

King Arthur and Bloody Peep Jousting 003

Let the Jousting Start!!!!!

Podcast Smodcast

I found this to be very cool and exciting. If you have an interest in something there is probably a podcast about it (even somethings people may find offensive). The uses for podcasts for libraries are enormous. Anything a child or teen is interested they can good hooked into and listen about it (just have to have a No-No list for some podcast). The ones I add to my bloglines accont were IGN Games Podcast, which is about the world of gaming, NPR Story of The Day, great stuff, and Comic Talk Cafe about the world of Graphic Novels and Comics. These could also be of interest to all library users. This excercise was very cool!!!

Jon Stewart on the Strenth of America on You Tube

I saw this live on the Daily Show and about laughed myself silly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_CM7QtfXf8. Jon Stewart is a great comedic political satirist. How could this be used in a library setting. Well actually by watching clips like from the Daily Show kids get tuned in to what is happening in politics in our world. This is not the perfect way, but its a start.

Game Adic I Am

I tried out the 2.0 Award Nominee Site Arcaplay because I love cumputer and vide games at http://arcaplay.com/. The games I tried were kinda lame so I was not that impressed. However with some work they could be improved. A library application for this site/tool would be kids learning through playing fun games. It happens believe it or not!

Zoho Writer = Cool

Hey, This Zoho Writer is pretty cool. I'm amazed that a site that offers so many cool programs that you would usually need to spend big bucks on from Microsoft and others are furnished here for free. This is pretty sweet. I like it alot!

Playing around with PBWiki and Not Getting Burned

This was alot of fun. I still view Wiki's with skeptisism ( I can't help it, I just know what some people are capable of doing) when doing true research, but if it's just for fun it's great!!!! I enjoyed editing the Wiki to include my information and enjoyed reading other people's favorite lists. Way Cool!!!!!

Wonderful Worid of Wiki or Trust in All

I think in concept and under some sort of centralized control Wikis are a wonderful tool for all to use. The idea that everyone can edit a Wiki in an ideal world is great, but I would never be comfortable with the idea of using a Wiki to gather information as from a legitimate resource, unless there were controls in place to prevent the entry of misinformation, untruths, etc. I like the idea of a Wiki editable by a select group such as librarians, or registered reliable sources. Under some circumstances I could see the benifit of all being able to edit, but only under certain circumstances and never having the Wiki used as documented sorces of information.

The Library in the World of 2.0

I read "Away from the Icebergs” and the other articles that went along with it. I think the answer to how libraries should function in this everchanging world of technology and how 2.0 is utilized should be veiwed carefully. I think the library needs to maintain control of some of its functionalities while making the world more accessabile by whatever means neccessary. I just believe there needs to be some structure and not everything thrown to the wind in the 2.0 universe. I am sure that there is a happy medium and look forward to whatever is coming down the pike.

Technorati - or Learning Karate

Technorati is an interesting tool. I don't know why but I did like a bit more than Delicous. The putting in of "Learning 2.0" got very different results for the searches. One was almost meaningless and the other much more on as what we call "Learning 2.0." Well another blog, another inch closer to the end.

Del.icio.us Aint all That

I did not find Del.icio.us to be so tasty. I did not see what made it so much a big deal to making tagging better or more efficent. It was interesting and I found some interesting sites, but I could have found them using similar tools and just as easily.
